Four Compressors in One

RysUpComp

Four iconic compressor workflows. One insert. Zero reason to keep stacking separate plugins.

Hear the chain
plugin by plugin.

This is a real vocal running the exact 13-insert RysUp chain we’d use in a session — same order you’d stack it in your DAW. Power the inserts on one by one and hear the vocal come together, then drop the finished chain on the beat.

  • Each insert feeds the next — powering one on wakes everything before it.
  • Playback never restarts. Toggle mid-line and A/B it like a session.
  • No loudness tricks — every bounce is the same take, same level path.

Finish the entire vocal chain

One plugin solves one stage.
A vocal preset connects the full chain.

Use this plugin when you want focused control over one mix job. When you need a DAW ready starting chain for tuning, cleanup, dynamics, tone, and space, compare the vocal presets built for your recording software.

Four models, one insert

Pick the response your source actually needs.

01

Hit hard with Comp-76

Choose the fast FET-style model when peaks need to snap into place or drums and vocals need more urgency.

02

Hold steady with Comp-3

Choose the firmer solid-state optical model when a performance needs consistent level without losing its presence.

03

Smooth it with Comp-2

Choose the slower tube-optical model for transparent vocal riding, bass sustain, and musical long-term control.

04

Shape it with Retro-Comp

Reach for the full threshold, ratio, timing, ARC, Opto, and Warm workflow when you want precise modern control.

What we actually check before shipping.

Practical notes from the Rys Up workflow so this page gives more than a generic plugin description.

01

Four real compressor workflows

Comp-76 covers fast FET punch, Comp-3 and Comp-2 deliver two distinct optical responses, and Retro-Comp gives you flexible modern control.

02

Three famous analog families

Move between FET, solid-state optical, and tube-optical behavior without rebuilding the chain or opening another plugin window.

03

Best chain spot

Put it after cleanup and corrective EQ, then drive Air, DS, Verb, or Delay from a steadier vocal.

Look closer

Every pixel, deliberate.

Hand-built controls. Physics-correct knobs. A UI that looks and feels as good as it sounds.

Comp-2: smooth tube leveling

Comp-2: smooth tube leveling

Built different

Small team. Real humans. Shipping daily.

The big plugin brands take years between updates. We ship improvements every day — because we're small, fast, AI-accelerated, and actually listening to the people using our plugins.

We iterate faster than anyone

Leading AI in our dev workflow means we ship new features, new plugins, and bug fixes on a near-daily cadence. Waves took 20 years to update their EQ. We update every week.

You ask, we build

Tell us what you want in the plugin and we'll build it. Suite subscribers get direct access to the dev team — submit feature requests and see them shipped, usually within the week.

Here to disrupt, not extract

No iLok dongles. No paid "upgrade plans." No sales teams taking a cut. We skip the middlemen and price our plugins at what they're actually worth. Pro-grade DSP at indie prices.

Got feedback? Send it our way — we read every message, and we ship what the community asks for.

Built for pro records

Comp-76 brings fast FET punch. Comp-3 adds firm solid-state optical leveling. Comp-2 delivers slow tube-optical smoothness. Retro-Comp gives you the flexible modern vocal-compressor workflow. All four are built into one plugin.

Questions, answered

Everything you need to know.

Can I try the plugin before I buy it?
Yes—you can hear the real plugin in action before you buy. Use the Before & After player on this page to switch between the same vocal with the plugin turned off and on. The After version was processed by the actual plugin, not a recreated effect, so you can hear exactly what it changes before you decide.
What is the difference between the four compressor models?
Comp-76 is the fastest and most aggressive FET-style model. Comp-3 is a firmer solid-state optical leveler. Comp-2 is the slower, smoother tube-optical model. Retro-Comp gives you a flexible modern compressor with threshold, ratio, timing, ARC, Opto, and Warm controls.
Do I get all four modes when I buy RysUpComp?
Yes. One RysUpComp license includes Comp-76, Comp-3, Comp-2, and Retro-Comp. You do not need to buy, authorize, or load four separate compressor plugins.
Are the models inspired by famous analog compressors?
Yes. Comp-76, Comp-3, and Comp-2 are inspired by the behavior and workflow of classic FET, solid-state optical, and tube-optical compressor families. Retro-Comp adds a familiar modern digital compressor workflow. RysUpComp is an independent Rys Up Audio product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any hardware manufacturer.
What attack and release settings work best on vocals?
In Retro-Comp, start with Attack around 10–30 ms and Release around 100–300 ms at 4:1, aiming for 3–6 dB of gain reduction on peaks. For smoother automatic leveling, switch to Comp-3 or Comp-2 and balance Peak Reduction against output Gain.
Can I use RysUpComp on a mix bus?
Yes. Retro-Comp can add controlled glue with a slower attack, moderate ratio, and 1–2 dB of gain reduction. Comp-76 is better when you want the bus to feel more urgent or aggressive. Always level-match with Trim so louder does not automatically sound better.
Does RysUpComp have a sidechain for ducking?
Yes. Route a key input (kick drum, lead vocal) to the sidechain and RysUpComp will react to that signal instead of the track it's on. Great for pumping pads under a kick, ducking a pad under a vocal, or creating that classic house-music sidechain pump.
What ratios does RysUpComp cover?
Retro-Comp provides continuous ratio control, while Comp-76 includes the classic 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, 20:1, and all-buttons-style choices. Comp-2 and Comp-3 use their own program-dependent optical behavior instead of a conventional ratio control.
Will RysUpComp work in my DAW?
Yes. RysUpComp ships as AU, VST3, and AAX for macOS (Universal — Intel + Apple Silicon) and Windows 64-bit. That covers Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Fender Studio Pro, Studio One, Cubase, Reaper, GarageBand, Bitwig Studio, and every other major DAW.
What's the difference between the Suite subscription and buying outright?
Buying outright gets you this one plugin forever. The Rys Up Suite subscription ($9.99/mo on annual, $14.99/mo on monthly) gets you every current plugin plus every future plugin we release — one price that unlocks the entire catalog.
Do I need an iLok or dongle?
No. We use a simple license key system. Install once per machine, activate with your email and key, and you're done. No iLok account, no USB dongle, no annual license-manager fees.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes — and we back it with our 30-day fix-it guarantee. Hit a bug? Want a feature added? Email support and we get on it. If we don't ship the fix or feature within 30 days, you're entitled to a full refund, no questions asked. In practice we usually ship within the week — but the guarantee is yours either way. That's the benefit of a small, fast, customer-driven team: you talk to humans, not a ticket queue.
