What Timeless 3 does
FabFilter describes Timeless 3 as a vintage sounding tape delay that can also turn into a sound design tool. Changing the delay time can behave like analog tape or like smooth time stretching.
The feedback path runs through five optional effects, Drive, Lo-Fi, Diffuse, Dynamics and Pitch, and up to six filters. You can build rhythmic patterns from up to 16 delay taps, use ping pong and mid/side modes, cross feedback, and a modulatable freeze.
The big feature is modulation: a 50 slot drag and drop matrix with XLFOs, XY controllers, envelope generators, envelope followers and MIDI sources. It ships as VST, VST3, AU, CLAP, AAX Native and AudioSuite.
FabFilter emails a license key after purchase that unlocks the plugin and includes free software updates, and there is a 30 day trial.
The delay only math
Timeless 3 has no reverb engine. For a vocal that needs both, you add a second plugin. FabFilter's reverb, Pro-R 2, was $199 in the FabFilter USD shop on September 17, 2026.

A rap vocal echo in Atmosphere
A starting point for a punchy lead with echoes that answer the bars instead of blurring them.
- Put Atmosphere on a return and set a tempo synced eighth or dotted eighth delay with ping pong on.
- Keep feedback low, two or three audible repeats is plenty on a busy verse.
- High cut the delay engine so the repeats sit darker than the lead, and low cut it so they stay out of the 808.
- Add a short room or plate type and keep the reverb low in the balance for a sense of space, not a wash.
- Push ducking so the repeats only bloom in the gaps between lines, then tune the curve for how fast they come back.
- Automate the send up on the last word of a bar for a throw.
