How to Install Vocal Presets on Reaper
How to Install Vocal Presets on Reaper
Reaper makes installing vocal presets incredibly simple — no complicated folder structures, no file path hunting. Just drag, drop, and start recording.
Quick Install (30 Seconds)
- Download and unzip your vocal preset pack from your Rys Up Audio account.
- Open Reaper and create a new project (or open an existing one).
- Drag and drop the preset file directly into your Reaper project — it will automatically load a new track with the full vocal chain already applied.
- Arm the track for recording and select your microphone input.
- Start recording — your vocals will run through the entire preset chain in real-time.
What's Included in the Preset
Each Rys Up Audio Reaper vocal preset includes a complete signal chain with EQ, compression, de-essing, and effects — all calibrated specifically for vocals. The chain is loaded as an FX chain on the track, so you can easily see and adjust each plugin in Reaper's FX window.
Adjusting the Preset to Your Voice
- Gain staging: Make sure your input level is hitting around -18dB to -12dB for the preset to work optimally.
- EQ tweaks: Every voice is different. Open the EQ plugin in the chain and make subtle adjustments to match your vocal tone.
- Compression threshold: If the preset sounds too compressed or not compressed enough, adjust the threshold on the compressor plugin.
- Add pitch correction: Reaper doesn't include a stock pitch corrector. We recommend MAutoPitch (free) or ReaTune (included with Reaper) for basic pitch correction.
Troubleshooting
- Preset won't load: Make sure you're dragging the actual preset file (not the zip file). Unzip first, then drag the preset file.
- No audio output: Check that the track is armed, your microphone input is selected, and monitoring is enabled.
- Plugins missing: If any third-party plugins in the chain aren't installed on your system, Reaper will show them as offline. Install the missing plugins and restart Reaper.
