Step-by-Step Installation
- Download and unzip your vocal preset pack from your Rys Up Audio account.
-
Navigate to your preset folder:
- Open Finder and go to:
/Users/[yourusername]/Music/Audio Music Apps/Patches/Audio - If you can't find your "Music" folder, click anywhere on your desktop and press Command + Shift + H to bring up your Home folder — the Music folder should be here.
- If the "Audio" folder doesn't exist inside Patches, create it.
- Open Finder and go to:
- Move the preset file (or the entire preset folder) into the Audio folder.
- Open Logic Pro X and create a new Audio Track.
- Open the Library by pressing Y on your keyboard (or click the Library button in the top-left corner of the workspace).
- Navigate to User Patches in the Library sidebar and select your downloaded preset.
- Set your pitch correction to the key of the song. Logic's built-in Pitch Correction plugin is included in the preset chain — just set the correct key. If you don't know the key, use this tool.
Important Notes
- If you are using Waves plugins, click here for the Waves-specific installation guide.
- If you can't find your "Music" folder, click anywhere on your desktop and press Command + Shift + H to bring up your Home folder and the Music folder should be here.
- Getting a "The patches or sets you are trying to import have too many channels..." error? This means you're trying to apply a master preset to a regular audio track. Master presets can only be applied to master/output tracks — please follow this guide for master presets instead.
Adjusting the Preset to Your Voice
Every voice is different, so the preset is a professional starting point — not a one-size-fits-all solution. Here's how to dial it in:
- Input gain: Record at a healthy level (around -18dB to -12dB peak). Too quiet = noisy, too loud = clipping.
- Channel EQ: Open the Channel EQ and make subtle cuts or boosts to match your voice. Cut around 200-400Hz if your voice sounds muddy, boost around 3-5kHz for clarity.
- Compressor threshold: If the preset compresses too much (sounds squashed) or too little (sounds dynamic), adjust the compressor threshold.
- De-Esser frequency: If you still hear harsh "s" sounds, raise the de-esser frequency or increase the sensitivity.
- Reverb/Delay sends: Adjust the send levels to add more or less reverb/delay to taste.
Troubleshooting
-
Preset not showing up: Make sure the preset file is in the correct folder:
~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Patches/Audio. Restart Logic after moving the file. - Audio issues: Check that your audio interface is selected in Logic > Settings > Audio, and that your track input is set to the correct input channel.
- "Too many channels" error: You're loading a master preset on a regular track. Use a standard audio track for vocal presets, or follow the master preset guide.
- Plugins grayed out: Some presets require Logic Pro (not GarageBand). Make sure you're using the full version of Logic Pro X.
