Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is the BPM detection?
The audio is analyzed by Essentia's RhythmExtractor2013, running two beat-tracking algorithms (multifeature and Degara) in parallel and reducing their per-frame BPM estimates to the integer mode. This is robust to tracks where the kick and hi-hat lock onto different tempos — a common failure mode in trap and hip-hop. On music with a steady beat, accuracy is typically within ±1 BPM; half- and double-time candidates are listed alongside the result.
How does key detection work?
A Harmonic Pitch Class Profile (HPCP) is computed across the whole song and matched against the EDMA profile templates from Essentia — learned from a corpus of electronic and hip-hop music, so the analyzer handles modern production better than the classical-listening profiles older tools were built on. The top key is reported with a strength score and the matching Camelot wheel position.
Is this tool really free?
Yes — every Rys Up Audio tool is 100% free, with no signup, watermark, or upload limits. The free tools are how we introduce producers to our paid plugins and vocal presets.
Do you upload my audio to a server?
Most tools process audio entirely in your browser via the Web Audio API — your file never leaves your device. AI-powered tools (stem splitting, vocal removal) run on cloud GPUs and the input is deleted immediately after the job finishes.
What audio formats are supported?
Every tool accepts MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, and OGG up to 50 MB per file. Exports default to high-quality 16-bit WAV.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes — every tool is responsive and works in iOS Safari and Android Chrome. Some tools (like the virtual piano) are optimized for multi-touch.
